“I can choose the days and hours I work : I do earn good money : I get rewarded when I see the children improve and develop : I can spend lots of time with my girls and husband : I am my own boss, but still have a support network : Work is always fun,” Dawn Forsyth, Musical Steps Teacher, Glasgow

“I have been teaching Musical Steps classes since 2002 and it has had an amazing positive impact on my life. I love getting to know all the children and parents, and of course making music with them, “ Cathy McCallum, founder of Musical Steps.

If you love making music and hold some of the qualities that we look for in our teachers, this could be the business opportunity for you:
Energy & enthusiasm: to organise and lead the classes with a genuine interest in children and their parents with a professional approach.
Good communication skills: You will be dealing with both adults and children, and you need to be able to do this clearly, confidently and positively.
Musical experience: You need to have musical experience, a good sense of pitch and rhythm and a clear, strong singing voice. You must love making music and be able to convey this to children and their parents. Formal qualifications are desirable, but not essential.
Experience with children: This could take many forms - teaching, nannying, even looking after your own child.
A sense of fun: The atmosphere of every class is set by the teacher and we look for a sense of fun, patience and the ability to include and interact with each individual child.
Our flexible recruitment policy means that every application is considered on an individual basis.
Our teachers go through a two step process to set up their Musical Steps business:
1. Teacher Training Course: This two day course covers all aspects of setting up, marketing and teaching Musical Steps baby and toddler classes. On successful completion of this two day course you are awarded a Musical Steps Teaching Certificate.
2. Musical Steps Teaching Licence: This entitles you to teach Musical Steps classes and an unlimited number of Musical Steps baby & toddler classes, use our registered trademark logo, brand name and all associated promotional and marketing materials.
We continue to offer you development opportunities as you work with Musical Steps and additional one-day modules are available for teachers with at least one year’s experience:
· Musical Steps pre-school classes;
· Musical Steps in nurseries;
· Musical Steps children’s parties.

Work full or part time and still earn a fantastic living from teaching our classes. Choose a range of working hours to suit you, which can include school term-time leaving the holidays free. There is an opportunity to generate £17,000 - £30,000 depending on the quantity of classes you teach and to what extent you market your business.
Investment starts from just £550 + VAT for the 2 day Teacher Training Course. With a short 3 month notice period contract and a flat rate monthly licence fee of just £50, our teachers have incredible flexibility and freedom.
Our Musical Steps equipment packs start from just £295 + VAT. Other costs associated with running your Musical Steps business are public liability insurance (between £12 - £22 per month), your transport between classes, a computer, telephone and answering machine.
